What is the IATF 16949:2016 standard
IATF 16949 is a standard specifically for the automotive industry and provides quality management system requirements for continuous improvement, defect prevention and reduction of variation and waste in the supply chain.
IATF 16949 certification is a contractual prerequisite in the Automotive industry, it shows that your company has been audited and found to comply with the requirements of the standard.
The standard was developed jointly by members of the International Automotive Task Force (IATF) and submitted to the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) for approval and publication.
IATF 16946 is based on ISO 9001 and national automotive quality standards and can be easily integrated with other management system standards.
